Race-ready coaching for triathletes of all distances — open water confidence, efficient freestyle and the technique to exit T1 ahead of the field.

programme
Coaching built for your specific discipline. The demands of an Ironman swim are very different from open water racing — your programme reflects that.
Ironman
Swim Coaching

Swim Coaching
Sighting, drafting, wetsuits, cold water and mass start tactics. The skills that only matter in open water — and that pool training alone can't replicate.

sets the race up
For most triathletes the swim is the discipline with the most untapped potential. Small technical improvements translate directly into faster splits — and crucially, arriving at T1 fresher and more ready to perform on the bike and run.
Triathlon swim coaching focuses on race-specific skills: open water sighting, pack positioning, drafting technique, efficient freestyle under fatigue, and the confidence to handle the chaos of a mass start.

Coaching is tailored to your race distance. The demands of a sprint swim are very different from an Ironman — your programme reflects that.
Sprint Triathlon
Speed, clean technique and a fast pool-to-open-water transition. Explosive starts and maintaining form at race effort.
Olympic Distance
Sustained pace, efficient stroke rate and the tactical awareness to position well in a competitive field.
Half Ironman · 70.3
Fatigue management, conservative pacing and ensuring the swim leaves enough in the tank for a strong bike and run.
Full Ironman
Long-course specific preparation. Technique that holds up over extended distance and deep open water confidence.

Assessment session
Your first session includes a full technique assessment — in pool and open water if relevant. Your coach identifies the changes that will have the biggest impact on your race.
Race-specific programme
Coaching built around your race calendar. Sessions increase in specificity as your event approaches, peaking with open water practice and race-day simulation.
Race day & beyond
Debrief after your event. Review what worked, update goals and plan the next block. Many athletes continue coaching year-round for sustained improvement.
Common
questions
The earlier the better — 12 to 16 weeks allows time for technique changes to consolidate and for race-specific conditioning to build. That said, even six to eight weeks of focused coaching will produce meaningful improvements. Enquire as soon as you have a target race and your coach will build a realistic plan.
Yes — many athletes combine coached pool sessions with written training plans for their independent sessions. Your coach can provide a full weekly swim programme so your solo training supports and builds on the coached sessions rather than working against them. Ask about this when you enquire.
Triathlon swim coaching focuses on race-specific skills: open water confidence, sighting, pack swimming, drafting, and efficient freestyle that leaves energy for the bike and run. Your coach understands the full triathlon context — not just pool technique — and programmes sessions around your race calendar and weekly training load.
Both work. Some athletes book a one-off technical session ahead of a race for specific open water preparation. Others commit to a full pre-season programme. Your coach will help you get the most out of whatever time you have. Enquire with your race date and we'll advise honestly on what's realistic.
